In a typical problem-solving model, an IT leader and his or her team—after understanding the problem thoroughly—need to generate a few viable alternative solutions. This process helps to ensure that comprehensive analysis has been performed for generating solutions and that all possible solutions have been considered.

Suppose you are the CIO of a consumer goods manufacturing organization. Your organization has experienced rapid growth in its customer base over the last few years. Your old database system is inadequate to maintain and manage the large volume of customer data that have been generated recently. As a result, you need to revamp your database system. What kind of alternative solutions might you consider? For example, should you develop the new database system in-house or outsource it to a third-party database management vendor?

As an IT leader, you will need to come up with several potential viable solutions once you face a problem and analyze it thoroughly. In order to be able to do so, you will need to develop the skill and expertise to conceptualize and generate multiple viable solutions to a single problem.

For this Assignment, in your team, you will propose alternative viable solutions to the given problem in Week 1.

To prepare for this Assignment, review the problem statement in Week 1. Then, in the Groups area located in the left navigation bar, share with your team the criteria you have identified for determining the viability of solutions in the IT Problem Analysis Template in Week 2. Create a list that contains all the criteria that you and your team members have identified together. Then, from the list, select a set of criteria that your team will use to determine the viability of solutions.

As a team, write an 800- to 1,100-word scholarly paper proposing two alternative viable solutions to the problem presented to you in Week 1. Include the following points in your paper:

Explain each solution in reasonable detail. Make sure you keep in mind the set of criteria your team has selected to determine the viability of solutions.
Identify the resources you will need to implement each solution
Identify the stakeholders who will be involved in implementing each of the solutions and explain the roles they are expected to play in the process of implementation.
