Once a problem is identified and before a solution is designed and implemented, a substantial amount of background research may be in order. Extensive research helps augment the understanding of a problem.

As a professional, you will need to develop your expertise in how to effectively research a problem that you have identified in order to be able to generate an effective solution. Inadequate research of a problem may lead to the development of a suboptimal solution.

For this Assignment, you will conduct initial research and write a report on the problem that your Instructor has assigned to you.

To prepare for this Assignment, review the IT Problem Analysis Template in this week’s Learning Resources. Also, use this template as a guide to complete your research and to help you focus your research efforts. Read the problem scenario your instructor has provided and perform initial research on the problem.

Start writing a 5- to 7-page report on the definition and analysis of the given problem.

The Problem is merging two companies into one.

In the first assignment, you are NOT identifying solutions. You are fully defining the problem as you interpret it based on the files I gave you.

Do not include any analysis of a “good” solution.

The Template (found in resources in Week 1) contains the headings that you need to concentrate on to write the 5 – 7 page report.

You will write a 5-7 page report, but the template defines each section heading (keep the headings in the paper) and the content for each section.

DO NOT make assumptions about solutions. Stick to the facts as you know them now, This will allow you to keep an open mind when finding a solution.

Assignment: Problem Analysis
Understanding the context as well as all the aspects of the problem is an essential prerequisite for finding an adequate solution. If you cannot understand a problem thoroughly, you will not be able to develop an optimal solution. In order to gain a complete comprehension of the problem, you need to be able to break it up into conceptual components and analyze each component thoroughly.

Once you understand the problem, you try to conceptualize one or more solutions to it. How would you determine which solutions are viable?
