Introduction:

The mission and vision statements are important elements in the strategic planning process. Without having an understanding of where an organization is in the marketplace, it is challenging to align itself competitively into the future.

In this discussion, you will explore the mission and vision statements of healthcare organizations in your community. Likewise, you will use the information gleaned from this week to develop an original mission statement and vision statement for a hypothetical healthcare organization that you intend to introduce into a specific marketplace. Finally, in an effort to apply the objectives from this week into your professional career, you will develop a personal mission statement.

Tasks:

· After researching two similar healthcare organizations in a specific geographic location, discuss the similarities and differences between their mission and vision statements.

· Develop a mission statement and vision statement for a hypothetical healthcare organization that you aim to develop in your community.

· Develop a personal mission statement that includes your core values, academic and professional goals, strengths, and dreams for your future.

To support your work, use your course and textbook readings and also use the  South University Online Library . As in all assignments, cite your sources in your work and provide references for the citations in APA format.

Your initial posting should be addressed at 500–1,000 words as noted in the attached PDF. Submit your document to this Discussion Area by the due date assigned. Be sure to cite your sources using APA format.

Analyzing the Market

The project assignment provides a forum for analyzing and evaluating relevant topics for this week on the basis of the course competencies covered.

Introduction:

In this week, you explored the first two steps involved in the strategic planning process. Specifically, you examined how to conduct the internal and external assessment. Likewise, you learned how to create the mission, vision, and critical success factors of a healthcare organization.

In this assignment, you will evaluate the condition of a specific healthcare market on the basis of the competition present. This will require that you research two healthcare organizations in a similar geographic location and either conduct a SWOT analysis or use Porter’s five forces model.

You will have the flexibility to select any two healthcare organizations (which offer similar services) that serve the same geographic location.

For example, you may be interested to research two skilled nursing facilities (a type of service) in Minneapolis, Minnesota (location). In this example, you would need to research two existing skilled nursing facilities in Minneapolis and complete an assessment tool for each.

· On the basis of your findings, recommend which of the two organizations you identified has the competitive advantage in the specific geographic location you selected.
