ESSAY: Personal Philosopy of Teaching

This week, you will develop your personal philosophy of teaching in a written statement, articulating your beliefs about important educational theories and practices. Your teaching philosophy should be based on what is meaningful to you in your approach to teaching.
Note: As your experiences and beliefs about teaching grow and change, your philosophy will also change. Therefore, at the end of this course, you will submit your revised teaching philosophy with a brief discussion of how your philosophy has changed or developed during this course.

**Here is something about myself. I am an OR-RN preceptor for 2 years, I used to teach new grade RN and new employees in the OR.I like to make them do it, for example, pretend for positioning for different procedures. I also suggested them to read booked about OR so, they will have evidence support and make them feel more confident at work.I believe if they do more they will learn faster
because they gain more experiences.

As an OR-RN preceptor, I have had the honor of interacting with the new employees and new grade registered nurses in the operating room. My teaching expertise and philosophy is shaped by my learning experiences. The nurses I interacted with as a new student in this department were passionate about teaching and training me on how to not only be efficient and effective in my work but to also be a good teacher in the future ensuring the safety and wellness of my patients.

I believe that learning is a social process that requires direct interaction with human beings especially in the nursing profession. Learning requires students to try peripheral activities before they graduate and take on more complex activities in the OR. As their confidence grows as they watch their teachers perform, they can do more and achieve more. Hence, creating more qualified nurses and teachers for future generations.

I have several goals as a teacher. The first is to ensure that the learning process I engage in is not only informative but intriguing and involving as well. Considering that the students in my care are new to the profession and even to the OR, ensuring that they find joy in their jobs is critical to helping them hone and develop their skills. Hence increasing the chances of better patient outcomes and quality service in the hospital. Secondly, I desire to inspire them to learn even without my assistance (Cox, 2014). I want to encourage them to read more and learn more as they discover new ways to become better nurses and improve the profession, especially through evidence-based research. Thirdly, I seek to integrate technology into the learning process. I realize that the world is changing and embracing the change is crucial to being better in the profession. Learning how these different technologies apply and how they encourage better outcomes is a necessary part of the education process in the OR. Lastly, I also have a goal to not only be a better teacher but to raise individuals who will desire to pass along the information taught to them. Hence, ensuring that more and more effective and passionate nurses are available in the country.
