The years 1875 to 1920 were a period of unprecedented change in the United States. It was a period that saw a swell in population as millions of immigrants sought a new life in our country. It was a period of unprecedented economic growth and social change. In this project, you will create a slide presentation demonstrating how some of the economic and social changes altered the fabric of our society.

To complete this project, choose one of the following options to use as a topic for your slide presentation:

A chronology of events summarizing the struggle for women’s suffrage in the United States from Reconstruction through the passage of the 19th How did it evolve from the mid-century, where was the campaign for women’s suffrage most successful in the late 19th century, who became the most ardent champions of the struggle and finally what methods ultimately won the vote for women and why did it take until 1920 with the passage of the 19th Amendment?

A guiding principle of the Progressive movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries was the idea of social justice. The ‘Muckraker” reformers were particularly attuned to this idea. Choose one of the Muckrakers detailed in Chapter 21 of the text and develop a presentation that discusses their motivation, methods, contributions, and success in bringing about social change including your assessment if their methods would work to enact social change in our society today?
