The friend you were talking to in Essay 2 is more open to Christianity now. However, he/she is still having trouble believing in miracles, specifically the resurrection. In this essay, make the most persuasive case you can to your secular friend. Keep in mind that as you write this paper in response to your friend, if he/she does not believe in miracles, they likely do not believe in the Bible either so sometimes showing a particular verse might not help. Can we use the Bible as a historical document though? Yes we can. Even though a person might not accept the entirety of Scripture, that does not mean the Bible can still not be used as a resource in our conversations. We can use the Bible as a historical document to argue for the historicity of the resurrection (See Habermas’ Minimal Facts approach). This does not mean we should not defend and argue for Scripture. We can and should do that but we must also be aware of our audience as well. We must learn to meet them where they are at (Inside/Out) and bring them along.
Pay close attention to having clear organization and relevant sources, which must be used effectively. There must be 3 scholarly/academic references used in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. Strong papers will use sources without simply stacking quotes on top of each other; a string of quotes will not normally be an effective way to persuade a friend in a conversation.
