Additionally, most African American women are affected by sexism and racism, resulting in their poor socioeconomic status, education and lack of health insurances. The lack of these essential factors exposes them to health disparity.

The leading cause of the inequality is cultural barriers which hinder easier access to high-quality health care. Some of the main aspects that lead to increased health disparities are inequality in health care and lack of medical care insurance and quality health care.

A study conducted in the article shows that the real impacts of disparity reflect how health care systems fail to attend to African American Women’s well-being issues. From different stories analyzed, the article finds that most African American Women die from pregnancy-related complications. The study also reveals that the disparities in risk factors related to maternal health such as hypertension and gestation diabetes exist and are aggravated by anxiety related to racial inequality and inadequate health care. These health effects contribute to the worsening of the health status of most African American women, and unfortunately, most succumb to the complications.
