This Learning Activity will help you to prepare for the Unit 8 Assignment by giving you practice setting goals, choosing intervention strategies, measuring the effectiveness of your intervention, and considering relevant ethical issues in a case from reviewing FBA data.

Complete this week’s Learning Activity to prepare for the Assignment.

This Assignment is comprised of three submissions; your team PowerPoint (to be submitted by your team leader only), a team peer evaluation, and a behavior intervention plan.

You may continue to collaborate with your team to finalize your team PowerPoint as well as in the construction of a comprehensive behavior intervention plan (BIP) for this same hypothetical client.

You will turn in your own BIP as an individual assignment.

Use the Behavior Intervention Plan Template to write a BIP for your client, incorporating the following:

• Operational definitions of target behavior(s) and a rationale for choosing them for the intervention
• A summary of the results of the functional assessment you chose for this assignment
• A minimum of two short-term and two long-term treatment goals for the target behavior(s)
• Evidence-based antecedent and consequence intervention strategies and a rationale for choosing them. Cite a minimum of one peer-reviewed source per intervention to validate that your intervention is evidence-based. Intervention strategies should be described technologically and written in language that parents and educational professionals can easily understand.
• A discussion of how your target behaviors will be measured (i.e., data collection), and how you will determine when adjustments to interventions should be made
• A prediction of the likelihood of lack of progress and unintended effects during intervention, a discussion of what the unintended effects might be, and how you would address the effects
• A description of how you programmed for maintenance and generalization of behavior change for each intervention using scholarly resources to validate your prediction
• A thorough discussion of relevant ethical and social validity concerns

The paper should:

• Follow assignment directions (review grading rubric for best results).
• Use correct APA formatting per the APA Publication Manual, 6th edition, including the following:
  • Title page
  • Citations
  • Reference page
• Follow the format of the supplied template.
• Demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard English.
• Be written in Standard English and be clear, specific, and error-free. If needed, be sure to use the Writing Center for help.
