Introduction

The focus of this paper is to provide an outline for the RN to BSN Capstone Course. The program was undertaken at International College of Health Sciences and the reason for choosing this college was to have a clinical experience, technical skill, to have humanistic skill that is important in one-to-one interaction. A 7-week course ad 13 months program was also undertaken online program was important towards success of the program. The course below were taken during the BSN.

NUR 3000 Nursing Theory

The important involved the identification of history of nursing, the current challenges encountered, and the future goals; comparing and contrasting the role played by the Diploma, AND, BSN, MSN, and the PhD. Other key important discussed included what is expected of the Baccalaureate level nursing education.

NUR 3013 Transition to professional nursing

It provided important learning experience in transitioning from the associate degree education to baccalaureate degree.

NUR 3030 Health Assessment

The topic involved a practical application of health assessment such as methods of history taking like the environmental exposure and the genetic risks, physical examination, and the patient-centeredness.

The topic focused on the etiology and diagnosis of illnesses as well as the care plan.

NUR 3530 Nursing Informatics

The topic covered database systems in healthcare, clinical decision support system, human-computer interactions in healthcare settings, the information systems project management in healthcare, the consumer health informatics, nursing informatics practicum, and the advanced practice in nursing informatics.

NUR 3021 Nursing Research Methods

The contribution of the research to the development of nursing science was covered. It helped in exploring the relationship between research and nursing.

NUR 3020 Community Based Nursing Practice

The topic covered in this area is the restorative care of the adults and the elders suffering from the chronic illnesses.

NUR 3040 Holistic Nursing

The topic was focused on the performance of the comprehensive and the physical, behavioral, psychological, and spiritual aspect of healthcare.

NUR 4550 Evidenced Based Nursing

The topic introduced the research process and the evidence practice in nursing. It was based on the interrelationship between the theory, practice, and research.

NUR 4031 The Business of Healthcare in Complex Systems

The topic covered on the clinical and administrative processes in the current healthcare environment that is increasingly becoming complex.

NUR 4021Transformational Leadership

The course focus on preparing the practicing registered nurse to utilize the evidence0base leadership and the management theories, concepts, and the skills to be the full partners and to work productively in the interprofessional team in facilitating the transformation of complex healthcare systems.

In this course, the health-related practice, values, and the beliefs amongst the cultural groups were explored as they impact on nursing.

NUR 4040 Capstone

The course served as a culminating and the integrative experience of an education program whereby tasks were performed during the final year in school at the end of the academic program.
