The common cyber-attacks among travelers are phishing and identity theft.  Identity theft involves stealing another person’s identification details such as account details, contact, bank information, driving license, and social security. The thief impersonates himself as the real owner of such details and can transact using the details. Phishing occurs during communication whereby the information is mainly acquired when hackers send emails that are corrupted with malware to an individual; his personal information is obtained while replying to the mail. Spear-phishing may involve anybody who is tricked through mails to give out his details while whale-phishing is a more advanced fraud that targets acquiring details of initiating financial transactions with high profile persons by use of social-engineering skills.

The cyber-security threats affect the resort, companies, and individuals. The information obtained from individuals has subjected them to unwanted expenses, since the hackers may withdraw money from bank accounts, use social securities in payment for treatment bills, and giving the wrong information relating to criminal cases thus subjecting innocent individuals to unknown causes. Sometimes, hackers demand a ransom for the hacked data, which nobody is pleased in paying. Therefore, cybercrimes should be rebuked since fix people into unexpected bills. We intend to ensure every traveler who visits this resort is free from cyber-attacks by coming up with necessary measures of ensuring data security.

Several measures can be employed by travelers to manage individuals’ data and ensure it is safe. One should carry his own mobile phone’s charger while traveling, since video jacking which discloses one’s details, takes place in public charging stations where data cables are shared in charging smartphones (Day, 2016). In the case of a laptop, one should keep it off if not in use during traveling. Antivirus software should also be installed on the laptop, use disk and USB encryption for saving passwords instead of typing them. The travelers are also expected to keep a track record of Wi-Fi passwords used and change them frequently.

The companies are also advised to train their employees, supervisors, and managers on cyber-security awareness before traveling (Hoelscher, 2020). Some of the pre-traveling practices aimed at safeguarding data stored in mobile phones include clearing any unnecessary browsing history in the device, proper carrying of the phone to avoid stealing, updating all software on all devices carried, being aware of the most important company data to maximize on its care.

Therefore, cyber-security issues can be minimized if companies can train their employees on data management techniques. The employees should also be responsible to save the data, especially with passwords, logins, installing antivirus software, and secured phone charging. Moreover, information technologists are still researching to find a permanent cyber-security solution.
