My topic I choose was diversity management in a globalized economy. I choose this topic because it relates to me personally and the great company I work for now. Diversity is huge in the banking world and by providing well diversification management skills it is helping to better strengthen a company and its values. It helps to create and maintain a positive work environment where similarities and differences of many individuals are valued and brought on. Many companies that I’ve worked for in the past did not provide this. I am excited to research more on this topic and see what else is out there.

Introduction/Thesis Statement

An introduction is the first paragraph of a written research paper, or the first thing you say in an oral presentation, or the first thing people see, hear, or experience about your project.

It has two parts:

1. A general introduction to the topic you will be discussing

2. Your Thesis Statement

A thesis statement takes a position on an issue. Because you must take a position or develop a claim about a subject, you need to convey that position or claim in a thesis statement in your paper. NOTE: Read the UMC Writing Center Handouts Thesis-Statements document for help on writing your Thesis Statement.

Based on the topic you choose, write your introduction and thesis statement.

Rubric: Must be well-written, in your own words, in APA format, with references.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

An annotated bibliography is a list of citations for various books, articles, and other sources on a topic. The annotated bibliography looks like a Reference page but includes an annotation after each source cited. An annotation is a short summary and/or critical evaluation of a source. Annotated bibliographies can be part of a larger research project, or can be a stand-alone report in itself. For more information, read the attached document.

Your paper must have a minimum of ten references from Primary, Secondary or Tertiary sources as defined below.

1. Primary sources are original materials on which other research is based, including:
   • original written works – poems, diaries, court records, interviews, surveys, and original research/fieldwork, and
   • research published in scholarly/academic journals.
2. Secondary sources are those that describe or analyze primary sources, including:
   • reference materials – dictionaries, encyclopedias, textbooks, and
   • books and articles that interpret, review, or synthesize original research/fieldwork.
3. Tertiary sources are those used to organize and locate secondary and primary sources.
   • Indexes – provide citations that fully identify a work with information such as author, titles of a book, article, and/or journal, publisher and publication date, volume and issue number and page numbers.
   • Abstracts – summarize the primary or secondary sources,
   • Databases – are online indexes that usually include abstracts for each primary or secondary resource, and may also include a digital copy of the resource.

ROUGH DRAFT

A rough draft is a version of your paper that is complete but not polished. It’s a good idea to write an outline before starting your rough draft, to help organize your ideas and arguments. The purpose of a rough draft is to allow you to write and then edit it or revise it, based on feedback from myself or the Purdue Online Writing Lab. Getting feedback on your draft allows you to create a better paper and to become a stronger writer.

Note: Your paper should conform to General APA Formatting Guidelines

Your paper should be typed and double-spaced on standard-sized paper (8.5″ x 11″), with 1″ margins on all sides. You should use a clear font that is highly readable. APA recommends using 12 pt. Times New Roman font, but you may also use Calibri and Arial font types. Include a page header (also known as the “running head”) at the top of every page as well as a page number on the top right of the page.
