You are a nurse leader in your future advanced practice track-based setting. You notice that although nurses say they use evidence-based practice (EBP), you find very few examples of this. As the leader, you decide to develop an environment that fosters EBP. Please respond to each of the following topics.

Future Use of Evidence-Based Practice

Evidence-Based Practice is a unique approach to clinical practice that was formally introduced in 1992. It is primarily defined regarding three perspectives integrating three principles namely, the best available research about treatment, clinical experience to identify the unique health nature of the patient and their reactions towards the medication. The last principle is the patient’s preferences beliefs and values concerning medicine (Dang & Dearholt, 2017). Applying the approach to the healthcare industry has caused significant improvement which makes it efficient. The paper intends to discuss the measures that can be implemented by a nurse leader to foster evidence-based practice.

As a nurse leader, it is vital to serve as an example and let the team imitate the actions. The nurse can be role a model by availing the collected evidence about illnesses and treatment to the staff and providing mentorship (Stavor et al., 2017). Availing the tools to promote the EBP and teaching the staff about the Evidence-Based Practice application skills will also be enough actions for the team to emulate.

The organisation’s culture can be adjusted to promote EBP by developing a budget and timetable that provides nurses with time to effectively handle EBP projects. It can also be supported by availing resources within the healthcare organisation that help the nurses in the application of the Evidence-Based Practice (Dang & Dearholt, 2017). Improvement in information systems for productive conversations and presentations about the identified evidence also helps in promoting the practice.
