Recently, you have been assigned the task of assembling a multicultural, team in your organization. The purpose of the team is to design and implement a leadership development and succession process for the organization.
Based on research using the course text and other scholarly materials:
Analyze the stages of group development the teams should expect to experience. At each stage, make recommendations that will help move the team into the next stage.
Multicultural project teams often face problems with communication, expectations, and values. How do you think some of these challenges can be overcome?
Explain some of the group decision-making challenges the team may experience and recommend ways to overcome them.
Discuss at least three recommendations to help make these teams effective.

ANSWER

Organizations are normally faced with a hard task of choosing a multicultural team that can help it implement its laid down agenda. In designing, and implementing a leadership team, organizations juggle between having team leaders who have enough expertise in guiding others for successful succession process. A multicultural team identified by an organization will definitely face different stages of group development before realizing the team’s mandate. This is because before the main objective is achieved, team members will have to understand each other as well as have a clear plan of each other’s role (Bayley & Nooshin, 2017). This essay is meant to analyze the stages of group development that such a team will face and make recommendations for each stage which will be important in seeing off the group in the next stage. Furthermore, the essay is also meant to address how problems such as communication and expectations will be overcome. Finally, recommendations will be made on how the challenges due to decision making by the group development will be addressed.

Stages of Group Development the Teams Should Expect to Experience The group will experience the forming stage. This is a crucial stage as it is characterized by members getting to know each other. It is at this forming stage that members have very little say and hence look up to the group leader to offer guidance in all issues. All members of the group only want it to be safe. They do this by identifying individual strengths and weaknesses that may form the basis for further subgroups formed in the future. Other than getting to know each other, it is at this stage that members are oriented to their tasks at hand.
