Students will explore and discover central themes that frame the government’s homeland security operations which emerged after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.Course ScopeAs a 300-level course, this course provides a higher level of knowledge building on the material taught at the 100 and 200 levels. The purpose and scope of this course is to enable the student to build a deeper understanding of the discipline.Course Objectives After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:CO-1–Describe homeland security as defined in the U.S. national security strategies and policies.CO-2 –Assess U.S. critical infrastructure protection programs.CO-3 -Examine risk management in homeland security operations.CO-4 –Examine the capabilities and limitations of intelligence to support homeland security efforts.CO-5 -Critiquethe homeland security system’s capability to meet forecast and emergent future challenges.Course Delivery Method

Forum posts are graded on timeliness, relevance, knowledge of the weekly readings, and the quality of original ideas.Midterm assignment -30percent This assignment is a take-home essay assignmentof two (2)questions, to test knowledge and assimilation of the course objectives.
