believe dreams have great meanings, while others believe they are nothing more than random

Part I- Dream Journal
For seven days you are going to keep a sleep log and a dream journal. Each morning when you wake up, you need to:
– Write down as much as you can remember from your dreams, even if it does not make sense at the
time.
– Write down the time you fell asleep and the time you woke up.
– Write a brief analysis of why you think you had that dream.
– Which dream theory does your dream apply to the most and why?
Part II- Analysis
At the end of seven days, you are going to look back at your info gathered and answer the following
questions in a comprehensive analysis:
– Based on the hours of sleep you were getting a night, how many 90 minute sleep cycles were you
experiencing on average?
– Were there any common threads running through the journal?
– Did you experience any nightmares or night terrors?
– Describe the manifest and latent content from one of your dreams.
– Which theory of dreaming do you think best explains your style of dreaming? Explain.
Some advice:
– Keep a pen and paper right next to your bed and write down as much as you can remember
immediately after waking up. If you move around or wait until later in the day, the dream thief
will steal it from your memory! You WILL forget them.
– Consciously THINK about dreaming before you fall asleep and tell yourself throughout the day
that you WILL remember your dreams. Research shows that people are more likely to
remember their dreams when they have a positive attitude towards remembering.
– Try to keep a consistent sleep schedule.
