Overview

Now that you’ve created the messaging schedule for your social media strategy, this journal assignment is an opportunity to reflect on what went well, what could be improved, and what your next steps should be. It’s also an opportunity to consider your own performance—to acknowledge your accomplishments, note your professional strengths, and pinpoint any gaps in your skills and knowledge that you’d like to develop should you decide to pursue a career in social media strategy.

Prompt

In this journal assignment, you will assess the course project, the process of completing it, and your own performance. You will then determine what your next steps would be if you were developing this strategy in a professional setting and responsible for bringing the strategy to completion.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

• Reflection: Reflect on the processes of collecting and analyzing data, developing a social media strategy proposal, and mapping out a messaging schedule by addressing the following questions:
  • What aspects of the project do you think you completed successfully?
  • Given the chance, what aspects of your project would you revise, and what resources would you draw on to make improvements?
  • What personal strengths did you draw on to complete the project, and what skills and knowledge did you need to improve or acquire?
• Revision: Going forward, assume that the two-week messaging schedule has been implemented and you are responsible for making revisions to the social media strategy. Explain how revision opportunities would be identified and implemented based on your monitoring and evaluation plans and global communication best practices by addressing the following questions:
  • Based on your plan’s monitoring and evaluation strategy, how would you determine where campaign revisions are needed?
  • What revision strategies might you use to strengthen your campaign, and how would you implement them?
  • What global communication strategies and best practices would apply if this campaign were implemented internationally, and how would they strengthen the campaign’s success?
