You have been asked to write two persuasive letters to two members of the community for the Persuasive Letters assignment. Address the following questions about the first person you selected:

1. Who did you pick?
2. What is this person’s title, role in the community, job, etc.? 
3. How does this person have the power to help solve your problem? 
4. What do you know about this person’s beliefs, values, opinions – especially as they relate to your problem?
5. Explain how you plan to use logos to convince this person to act. Be specific. Don’t say, for instance, “I will use facts and evidence.” That’s obvious. Specifically state what facts and what evidence, for instance. 
6. Explain how you plan to use pathos to convince this person to act. Be specific. Don’t say, for instance, “I will use emotions.” That’s obvious. Specifically state what emotions, for instance. 
7. Explain how you plan to use ethos to convince this person to act. Be specific. 
8. Explain how you plan to use kairos to convince this person to act. Be specific.

Please note that you will need to perform internet research to learn about your audience. Newspapers will likely produce sound information. The database Newspaper Source Plus through the HCC library will be useful. 

This discussion board should demonstrate that you have learned about your audience and taken the time to research their beliefs, responsibilities, and other biographical information. Your audiences are the two people who will receive these letters.
