HDR Part 2 Overview For this assignment you will create a draft of Determinants Table based on a literature review, and an APA formatted reference list. All sources should be reputable (i.e. government sites or scholarly articles) and any source used for any part of the assignment should be included in the reference list.

Literature Review In order to complete the Determinants Table for this assignment, you will need to conduct a literature review on your topic. The KSU Library Literature Review online modules on Blackboard are a good place to start for this.

It’s best to review some of the literature on your topic before you start filling in the determinants table. After you have identified some determinants from the literature, you may decide to search the literature to see if there is support for some determinants that you have not yet found in your sources, but you believe may be contributing to the disparity. If you are struggling with the literature review for the assignment, you are encouraged to work with the library to identify reputable and scholarly sources for your project.

Draft Determinants Table For this part of the assignment, please fill in a determinants table for your issue. There is a blank table template posted on Blackboard, as well as a document with some examples. Your table should identify those factors that you have identified as potential determinants (influences/causes) of the disparity that you have chosen. Your draft table should include at least 8 determinants that you have identified/explored in the literature.

– Do your best to include determinants at all levels of the SEM – Remember you need to be focusing on determinants of the disparity, not the health issue in general – For each row of the table, you should provide sources that support the statements you have included

(see TABLE EXAMPLE on Blackboard) – For your draft table, you should not be explaining why the determinant leads to the disparity, but rather

simply identifying that the literature supports that it is a determinant. You will have a chance for more explanation in your HDR Part III: Final Determinants Table.

For each determinant:

1. Name the determinant 2. Identify how the determinant is associated with the health issue you have selected (with citation) 3. Identify how the determinant is associated with the population you have selected (with citation) 4. Indicate which level of the social-ecological model (SEM) you feel your determinant would fit into
