Research the Spanish-speaking country which you adopted earlier in the term with the questions below as essential research.

Your goal is to provide an introduction (through your paper) to someone who knows nothing about the country you have adopted! The questions below will help you to research your country and find important information and that information will inform your document.  The answers to the questions are NOT the assignment, the booklet/brochure is but all questions must be answered!

After you have completed your research, create a 2-3 page booklet/brochure In English (at least 500 words) that is designed to introduce someone to your country who is not familiar with it.

Every question must be answered in your document.

1. What is the web address of the country’s official website? What kinds of information does it give? If you cannot find an official website, find the site of the country’s largest newspaper and list that.  

2. What is the official language of your country? Are any other languages spoken there? Are there indigenous cultures of significant population? Do they play a significant role politically?  Do they speak a language other than Spanish?  How many speakers of that/those language(s) are there?

3.  Who is the current president or leader of your adopted country?  How long is their term of office?   When were they elected? 

4. Does this country hold democratic elections? When is the next major election?  What are the primary political parties and  how do they compare to U.S. political parties?  (If this is an election year, include some information about candidates, etc.)

5. What attracts you to visiting this country? What would you like to see or experience? How would you promote this country to a friend for visiting? What does someone need to travel to your country (in a non-pandemic world)?  How much does it cost to travel there? 

6. What are the most popular tourist or visitor sites to see in this country? How many visitors do they have annually? Is tourism an important industry in your adopted country? Where would you recommend that someone visit to truly experience the best of your country?

7. What do homes look like in your country?  Is there a typical style of home or a variety?  (include pics if so).  Do people live differently in the city vs. the country?

8. Is there an official dress/clothing associated with your country?  If so, what is it called and how would you describe it?  (include pics if so)  If there isn’t a traditional costume or dress, how would you describe the importance of fashion in your country?  Are they influenced by the United States when it comes to dress, music, or other cultural expressions?  Do many American citizens live in your country?

9. What is the primary basis of the economy of your country? Do they export goods to the United States?  Do we export goods to them?  If agriculture is a part of their economy, what are the most common products?    

10.  How would you describe the relationship between this country and the United States?  Have we ever been involved in the politics or history of this country?  Do we current have an embassy there?  Do they have an embassy in the U.S.?

ASSIGNMENT: When you have completed your research, create a 2-3 page booklet/brochure In English (at least 500 words) that is designed to introduce someone to your country who is not familiar with it.

It must be typed, double-spaced, and 500 words MINIMUM.

The answers to these questions are NOT the assignment, the folder/brochure is.

IMPORTANT: Notice that there are actually multiple questions for each number. These questions are meant to be a starting point for your essay. You should include any  additional information and facts/figures that you think are relevant or interesting.

REMINDER: It is not acceptable to quote largely from other sources, such as Wikipedia or online websites. This is meant to be in your own words. List the official web pages of the country and any other sites you used to complete your research.
