I for one believe that if a parent is aware of their kids capacity to process the information they’re getting on the sex subject, then the initial conversation should start with the parents. I also think that kids should have sex education courses in school as well. this will only help support the conversation the child had with his or her parents already. It will also negate any bad information the child was given from other students and friends. In my opinion, the more a child hears about the dangers of STD’S and teen pregnancies will cause them to think before they engage in sex. Or at the very least give them awareness on the options they have to better protect themselvess against these things.

If I think back to when I was a teen; even after knowing what I knew about sex from my parents and from sex ed in school, that all seemed to me like it was something that happened to other people. There was no way it could happen to me I thought. Thankfully I never had any issues with STD’s or pregnancy but now that I am older, I see just how careless my thinking was. I’m sure I wasn’t the only teenager that thought this way and some of those teens probably weren’t as lucky as I was. This helped me when the time came for me to have “the talk” with my kids. I explained the overwhelming feeling of curiosity that comes with the possibility of having sex in incomparable to the long term risk involved is truly isn’t worth it.
