Week 3’s Case Study Assignment

Objective. Prepare a 3-4-page (or approximately 9-12 paragraphs) APA-formatted report using your choice for this week’s case study and an annotated bibliography of 3-4 journal articles that pertain to your chosen case study.  The journal articles should be scholarly, peer-reviewed, and less than seven years old. Additionally, the title page and references do not contribute to the page count.

Preparation Tasks.  There are two recommended preparation tasks for this week’s assignment.  The first preparation task is to ensure that you understand the concepts of peer-review and reading journal publications.  Please review the following information:

After gaining an appreciation for peer-review and understanding articles, visit LIRN (or another database) and, find 3-4 articles related to the case study you chose for this assignment. Once you have your articles, create a Word Document containing APA-formatted annotated references— see the guidelines for creating an annotated bibliography here.  Save your annotated references because you will need them for the assignment!

Goals for the Assignment.  Your assignment should meet each of the four goals:

• Provide a background statement identifying the primary problem discussed in the case study.  Additionally, you should also identify any secondary issues present in the case study.
• Present an analysis of the causes and effects involved with the problem(s) in the case study.  Think about combinations of actions and reactions and results triggered by external and internal influences.
• Identify and discuss strengths and weaknesses existing in relation to the problem(s) in the case study.
• Issue alternatives and recommended solutions.  Describe alternative solutions to the problem(s) discussed in the case study.  Ask yourself: (a) What feasible strategies would I recommend and what are their pros/cons (if any)?; and (b) What are my solutions/recommendations?
• The assignment should include annotated references for all cited sources.
