According to Lemoine (2021), ethical leadership is the activity that demonstrates and promotes behavior that respects the rights of others within value-based boundaries. The component of ethical leadership is Justice, Respect for others, Transparency, Humane Behavior, Focus on Team Building, Encourages Initiative, and Values Awareness. 

The appropriate way to measure ethical leadership is to assess the validity of a new questionnaire for measuring essential aspects of ethical leadership, to examine how ethical leadership is related to leader-member exchange and work unit performance, and to assess criterion-related validity for the new questionnaire. The results answers important question about the benefits of ethical leadership (Yukl et al, 2011).

Ethical leadership plays a vital role in the successful running of a firm. Companies that follow the concept of ethics are supposed to have enormous popularity and reputation in the market world. Ethical leadership is a concept of different components such as fairness, honesty, concern for sustainability, ethical guidance, role clarification, and integrity (Perreault, 2017). All these components assist in building or develop proper leadership skills in the firm. Apart from this, we can even measure ethical leadership. Generally, three instruments treasure the concept of ethical leadership. Those are the ethical leadership survey, perceived leader integrity scale, and ethical leadership work questionnaire. Most of the employees will not be comfortable with the environment, such as illegal. However, the companies which employ the concept of ethics are always supposed to run in a legal work environment (Myers, 2015). Some of the common advantages of employing the concept of ethics in firm activities are that it assists in increasing more values in the firm. It ensures effective communication within the work environment and, most importantly, provides better appropriate resources within the firm. It is essential to employ the concept of ethics in leadership skills, as the rest of the people in the firm follow the work style of their leaders.

Ethical leadership includes individuals operating in line with a set of principles and values that are universally acknowledged as providing a solid basis for the greater good. 

These include things like integrity, respect, trust, fairness, transparency, and honesty. Leaders can inspire people to act ethically on a collective level. Others will watch and act accordingly if you set a good example and give ethical counsel. In this method, ethical leaders may have a positive influence on a wide number of people by presenting them with a set of activities that they may participate in for the greater good. On a personal level, being an ethical leader is essential for credibility and reputation. It takes a long time to become a leader. Unethical behavior may instantly knock a leader out of the A-league and badly destroy their personal or company reputation.

Too frequently, these rules of ethics fail to admit that doing the right thing is difficult owing to specific circumstances, but to express so would give a face to reality. These ethical components include Gratitude, Humility, Justice, Mercy and Compassion, Prudence and Objectivity, Magnanimity, Integrity, and Resilience. Gratitude is described as the expression of thanks and genuine delight in response to a gift or kindness. It is a characteristic that demonstrates tremendous humility while engaging with others and adds humanity into leadership rather than leadership being viewed just as a figurehead. Humility is a crucial component of creating trust because it reminds us of our limits and encourages us to act accordingly; it is the possession of modesty and unpretentiousness and informs employees that the leader needs them. Individuals’ conduct is governed, and they are made to acknowledge the rights of others. In the workplace, studies have found that organizational justice is a key predictor of work attitudes and actions. Mercy and compassion reflect a leader’s thorough awareness of the challenges subordinates may face in carrying out their responsibilities. Prudence is defined as deliberate contemplation before action. The cautious leader examines the consequences of actions on all parties involved in the pursuit of desirable goals with minimum negative consequences. Employees must observe examples of anticipated conduct and act in accordance with the desired behavior. The gracious leader serves as an example of character and what is expected of employees. Integrity refers to the personal principles that guide a leader’s actions.
